GLUTEN-FREE FRIED CAULIFLOWER

A HEALTHIER SPIN ON A CLASSIC SNACK.

These mouthwatering cauliflower bites strike the perfect balance of crispy, yet tender deliciousness. The secret? Vanessa Marigold uses a splash of EVERCLEAR® Grain Alcohol in her batter to keep batter light and airy while preserving all the juicy flavor inside.

 

Ingredients:

2 q. Oil for frying, such as peanut or vegetable
¼ c. Cornstarch
¼ c. Rice Flour
¼ c. Gluten-free Oats, blended
¼ c. Gluten-free Flour
½ tsp. Baking Powder
½ tsp. Kosher Salt
¾ c. Ice Water
¼ c. EVERCLEAR® Grain Alcohol
1 head Cauliflower, cut into florets

Instructions:
  1. In a heavy bottom pan, heat the fry oil to 350°F (180°C).
  2. While the oil comes to temperature, combine the flours, baking powder, salt, water and EVERCLEAR<sup>®</sup> in a bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Cut the head of cauliflower into bite-sized florets.
  4. Coat the cauliflower in batter, and fry three to four florets at a time until golden brown (about 6-7 minutes).
  5. Remove from oil and let cool on a sheet pan lined with a paper towel. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
