Apple Fritters
MEET YOUR NEW FAVORITE DESSERT
So crispy on the outside, so soft and fluffy on the inside. These apple fritters, made with a dash of EVERCLEAR® are a perfect treat that will fill your kitchen with an irresistible aroma.
Ingredients:
Cinnamon Sugar Ingredients:
¼ c. sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
Fritter Ingredients:
5 to 6 small Granny Smith apples
½ c. all purpose flour
¼ c. cornstarch
1 tbsp. sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of salt
1 large egg, beaten
⅓ c. EVERCLEAR® Grain Alcohol
¼ c. buttermilk
¼ c. club soda
6 c. neutral fry oil like canola or peanut
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together until fully blended. Then set your cinnamon sugar aside.
- Core and slice apples in ¼-inch thick rings.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add the egg, EVERCLEAR, buttermilk, and club soda, then mix until just blended.
- Heat the fry oil in a large heavy bottom pan or dutch oven to 350°F. Have a wire rack ready on a sheet pan to place the fritters.
- Working in batches, dip the apple rings in batter and fry, using a spider or slotted spoon to flip them, until both sides get golden brown and crispy, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Place finished fritters on a wired rack and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Serve and enjoy immediately. They taste best fresh and hot.
