SIMPLE SYRUP
ADD LONGEVITY TO YOUR SIMPLE SYRUP WITH THIS SECRET INGREDIENT.
Making homemade simple syrup is very easy and it’s a great ingredient for any home mixologist to have on hand. This is a straightforward, foolproof approach to get the desired sweetness and consistency.
Ingredients:
3 c, water
3 c, sugar
Splash of EVERCLEAR® Grain Alcohol
Instructions:
- First, heat the water in a saucepan, but avoid boiling.
- Mix in sugar and continue to heat until all sugar is dissolved.
- Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool. Add a splash of EVERCLEAR Grain Alcohol.
- Store simple syrup in a sealable container.
Tips:
- Any 1:1 ratio of sugar and water will do, but 3 cups is a good starting point if you’re just looking to have some on hand.
- If you’re looking to make a certain amount for a recipe, use the desired amount in both water and sugar. For example, if you want 2 cups of simple syrup, use 2 cups of water and sugar. Avoiding boiling helps to keep the ratio consistent and prevents any loss of liquid.
- Simple syrup is typically made with pure white cane sugar. But it can also be made with brown or dark brown sugar for a different flavor or if the recipe calls for it.
